Howdy, I'm Jacob.

I'm Head of Analytics at Arrivalist, a travel analytics platform serving destination marketing organizations. I work fully remote (which is how a career that ran through Tallahassee ended up back in my hometown).

I'm an economist by training. That training has been put to odd uses: tax policy and financial regulation for the State of Florida, speechwriting for a statewide elected official, and seven years leading consumer insights at VISIT FLORIDA.

These days much of my work is applying AI to analytics. I created Arrivalist Scout, an AI data product, and lead AI adoption on my team. My specialty has stayed the same throughout: designing research that produces genuinely actionable insight, then translating it for whoever needs it (legislators, marketers, or a conference hall after lunch).

I'm deeply involved in my local Episcopal parish and the Episcopal Diocese of Western Oregon: vestry member, Diocesan Council member, convention delegate, and church choir tenor.

I'm also Vice President of the Coos Singers community choir, which makes me a tenor in two choirs, a fact my neighbors have learned to live with.

Before all this, I taught middle-school math in the Mississippi Delta as a Teach For America corps member.

Backpacking, especially in the mountain west. I'm a certified Master Naturalist in both Utah and Florida (very different homework assignments).

I sew my own camping gear and am learning to make and alter clothes, with actual technical-apparel coursework behind it, so the stuff mostly holds together.

I tell stories around campfires and am easing back into acting after a long hiatus. I play board games you've probably never heard of. I read philosophy-heavy science fiction. I have too many cats.
